New gear highlights: August 23, 2019

In this week’s new gear highlights, Oxford go old-school and there’s a new replica Arai from a popular world champion…

Arai RX-7V Jonathan Rea replica

Four-time World Superbike champion Jonathan Rea’s latest Arai replica lives on the brand’s racing RX-7V with a graphic based on the one he’s using for the 2019 season.

One change is that green stripes streak down the sides, compensating for the missing Monster Energy sponsor logos that adorn his actual race lid. The crisp red, white and black blocks have been the basis for Rea’s lids for many years, as he adopted them from the colours his father Johnny used when he raced the roads in the ’80s and ’90s.

The RX-7V has multiple points of ventilation, a Pinlock-ready Max Vision visor (with insert included in the box) and an improved visor locking tab.

The Jonathan Rea replica has launched at £789.99 in sizes XS-2XL.

Bell Eliminator – Hart Luck Black/Red/White

Bell’s collaboration with freestyle motocrosser Carey Hart bears further fruit with their latest tie-up released.

The latest Hart Luck design is on Bell’s new-for-2019 Eliminator, which is inspired by the shape of car racing helmets. The intricate red and silver design is backed by a matt black base, with an aggressively designed ‘Bell’ decal on the back.

The Eliminator has a composite-fibre shell and ProVision visor, which has an anti-mist insert already fitted. The helmet also comes with a plastic clip-on rain cover for the open vents on the top.

The Hart Luck design has launched at £349.99 in sizes S-XL. Read more about the Bell Eliminator here.

ARMR Moto SHL935 gloves

Budget-friendly brand ARMR Moto have added to their urban range with the new SHL935 gloves.

Available in tan (pictured), black or brown and launching at £34.99, these gloves offer vintage styling on a budget. Their goatskin construction makes them tough and abrasion-resistant, while perforations across the backhand keep you comfortable in hotter weather.

Hard knuckle protection and double stitching in key areas gives extra protection, while a touchscreen-friendly index fingertip and thumb let you use a smartphone.

The SHL935 gloves are available in sizes S-3XL.

Oxford Ladies Iota 1.0 Air textile jacket

The new Iota 1.0 Air ladies textile jacket arrives as Oxford’s lightest mesh textile jacket.

Perfect for summer, the Iota 1.0 Air has large mesh panels on the chest, arms and hips as well as all over the back for maximum airflow. Stretch panels on the elbows give greater flexibility and the fit can be adjusted using Velcro straps on the waist and buttons on the biceps.

CE certified shoulder and elbow armour approved to the lower Level 1 comes as standard, and there’s a pocket for an optional back protector. The jacket is also certified to the basic ‘A’ level of the new CE standard.

The jacket has launched in pink/black, black/white, plain black or black/grey/pink (pictured) in sizes 8-20 at £99.99.

Oxford Holwell 1.0 textile jacket

Oxford’s new wax cotton jacket combines old-school styling with modern features.

The Holwell 1.0 textile jacket has a waterproof membrane and a removable thermal liner, as well as CE-approved shoulder and elbow armour.

But the Holwell is all about the classic styling, with its wet-look wax cotton construction, quilted shoulders and elbows and bronze buttons and buckles. Four large pockets on the front as well as one on the inside give plenty of storage space, while a short connection zip allows the attachment of Oxford jeans.

The Holwell has launched in three colours – black, green and red (pictured) and has launched at £199.99 in sizes S-5XL.
