Eye-catching new helmet graphics lead this week’s new gear highlights, with a dose of practicality thrown in for good measure.

New Shoei NXR graphics

A host of new graphics make their way into Shoei’s 2020 NXR collection, including the two pictured.

The Zork TC-7 graphic on the left is a throwback to the disco days of the 80s, with bright contrasting stripes complete with neon pink Shoei logos scattered around the shell.

The beachy vibes of the Shorebreak TC-2 on the right comes from its matt turquoise base with black and white distressed-looking stripes, finished off with blue-backed Shoei logos.

Shoei’s sporty NXR has a composite fibre shell, which comes in four sizes for the best fit. Multiple ventilation points keep the head cool, while a rear spoiler provides better aerodynamics.

The new NXR graphics launch at £469.99 in sizes 2XS-XL.

AGV K1 – Rossi Mugello 2015

As is the way with a lot of motorcycle racers, a home round signals a brand-new helmet design and no racer is more famous for that than Valentino Rossi.

His home race at Mugello in 2015 was no different, and saw this eye-catching design make its debut. Now, AGV have released it on their budget sporty K1 helmet.

The most prominent part of the design is the energy level graphic on the back. It represents Rossi’s energy levels slowly rising during a race weekend, reaching his peak ‘yellow power’ for the race.

The right side features the words “energia rinnovabile” (renewable energy in Italian) along with his race number ‘46’ over a recycling icon. The left side holds the words “yellow energy” and has the pawprints of his two dogs and one cat. The design is topped off with blue solar panels which wrap around the chinbar, providing an extra energy boost.

The AGV K1 has a plastic shell, rear aerodynamic spoiler and a Pinlock-ready visor, although the Pinlock is sold separately.

The Rossi Mugello 2015 graphic launches at £179.99 in sizes XS-2XL.

Rev’it Ladies Xena 3 leather gloves

Rev’it have given their Xena ladies gloves a style overhaul for 2020.

The Xena 3s receive a double closure cuff with hard armour on the wrist and ventilation on the back of the hand, as well as on the cuff.

Long stretch panels across the backhand and on the fingers aid flexibility, while hard knuckle armour, a plastic scaphoid slider and CE-approval keep you protected.

Camo print around the knuckle armour and up the fingers is lined with contrasting coloured piping, which matches with the colour of the palm stitching.

The sporty Xena 3 gloves launch in black/white (pictured) or black/grey in sizes XS-XL, with an RRP of £119.99.

Sidi Vertigo 2 CE boots

Sidi’s Vertigo 2 race boots have been available for over a year, but for 2020 they receive a CE-approved makeover.

The Vertigo 2s achieve a full Level 2 rating across the board in all of its tests for height, abrasion resistance, impact cut and transverse rigidity. You can read more about the tests and what they involve here.

The boots features remain, using Sidi’s Tecno 3 IRON mechanism to close the boot and offer a more accurate fit around the calf. The prominent ankle bracing prevents the foot from twisting, while hard plastic shin and heel guards provide extra reassurance.

The Sidi Vertigo 2 CE boots have launched in black/grey at £252.99 in sizes 41-47 (UK7-12).

ARMR Moto Owara 2 boots

New boots from ARMR Moto aim to provide budget-conscious riders an all-round option for just under £100.

The Owara 2s have a waterproof membrane and a zip on each side of the boot to provide a bigger opening to slip feet into, as well as elasticated panels to give more stretch.

A long stretch panel down the front of the boot and a smaller one on the back offer more flex at the ankle, while a large reflective insert helps riders stay visible under car headlights.

They’ve launched in black and are only available in limited sizes at the moment. They carry an RRP of £99.99.
