This week’s new gear highlights comes with a whole lot of baggage and a helmet that’ll move so quick, you’ll miss it if you blink!
HJC i70 DC Comics – The Flash
HJC can’t resist a comic book-inspired lid, and it was only a matter of time before they brought the concept to their new i70.
The new graphic is inspired by DC’s super-sprinter The Flash, who can supposedly run faster than the speed of light. The new graphic is inspired by the character’s suit, in his signature red with gold colours and his lightning bolt logo sitting on the top.
The HJC i70 has an internal drop-down sunvisor, speaker pockets for easy installation of a comms system and is available in a variety of other designs, starting at £179.99 for plain colours. You can read more about the full spec of the i70 here.
The Flash graphic is available in sizes XS-2XL and has launched at £259.99.
It’s the time of year where new luggage is coming out thick and fast − and retro designs seem to be the big thing right now. So it’s only right that heritage specialists Merlin branch out into this field.
Their new 12-strong luggage collection covers all angles, including different colour options. This rucksack, pannier and messenger bag matching set (pictured) caught our eye.
The Ashby Classic rucksack is made from waxed cotton and has a generous 30-litre capacity. The quilted back pad provides extra comfort, as do padded shoulder straps. There are three extra storage pockets on the outside, as well as two loops for hanging other items off.
The Brayton pannier set, also with a waxed cotton construction, has a 60-litre total capacity with an internal waterproof lining. They attach to a bike using the included straps, but also come with a shoulder strap to carry them around off the bike too.
Finally, the new 19-litre Cheadle messenger bag is practical for on and off-bike storage. An included waist strap secures the bag around the waist while riding, and a shoulder strap lets you carry it around all day. It’s available in black or olive, and has launched at £199.99.
QBag Tail Bag 9
QBag’s luggage is extremely popular for its low prices and high quality.
The inventively titled Tail Bag 9 joins the line-up, with a 40-litre capacity and waterproof construction. Inside, there’s a small mesh compartment to store smaller items you don’t fancy losing. The bag comes with a removable shoulder strap and also has a carry handle on top.
It has launched in grey at £44.99.
Alpinestars GP Force one-piece suit
Alpinestars’ new GP Force one-piece suit is their cheapest yet, launching at £699.99.
The main reason it’s £200 less than their next cheapest suit is because you can’t integrate the Tech Air airbag system. But if you’re not planning on racing, the GP Force suit is well worth your consideration.
The leather outer is peppered with perforation to keep air flowing when you need it most. On the shoulders, elbows and knees you’ll find stretch panels for flexibility, along with CE-approved armour. Snap buttons inside the suit let you connect an optional extra Nucleon back protector. The one-piece also comes with kneesliders, which attach on with Velcro and can be replaced anytime.
A race hump on the back improves aerodynamics at higher speeds, while pre-curved sleeves give better and more instant comfort.
