 ADAM PIGOTT

This week there are plenty of new products from Swiss brand iXS, as well as some eye-catching new gloves…

iXS Baldwin-ST Classic textile jacket

Yeah, the name’s a bit odd, but Baldwin’s actually a pretty cool guy once you see what he’s all about.

The iXS Baldwin-ST is a classically-styled jacket that packs plenty of features underneath that olive shell.

There’s a Solto-Tex two layer waterproof membrane, and removable quilted thermal liner for when the weather takes a turn for the worse, as well as zipped vents on the sides of the jacket for optimised airflow.

Both the shoulder and elbow armour are CE-certified, while the elbow protectors are height-adjustable. There’s no back protector as standard but there is a pocket for the aftermarket back protector of your choice.

The Baldwin (nope, the name’s still weird) is available at launch with an RRP of £168.99 in size S-3XL.

iXS Ladies Pacora-ST textile jacket

Straight out of the gate the Pacora has a better name than Baldwin, even if it is also an Indian fried snack.

This jacket is designed specifically for women and has plenty of features and technology that would be sure to make it a decent riding jacket in all but extreme conditions.

A Solto-Tex two layer membrane keeps the wearer dry, while a removable thermal liner keeps the worst of the chill out. The jacket is lined with a mesh to help with breathability, and there are four adjustable vents for when the temperature rises.

The hem of the jacket is elasticated for a close fit, while there is width adjustment at the cuffs and elbows.

The Pacora-ST’s launch RRP is £248.99, and the jacket is available in sizes 10-24.

Icon Anthem 2 textile gloves

Icon have been ploughing their own furrow for 18 years, with their brightly-coloured riding apparel a departure from the muted colours of traditional gear.

These new short gloves are a little more understated than most Icon products, even though they come in the brightest red, yellow or blue – or there’s plain black for those who prefer the dark side.

The backhand is constructed from a durable, breathable mesh, while the palm is made from Ax Laredo synthetic leather for wear resistance and abrasion protection.

D3O protection in the knuckles means the protection doesn’t have to be too bulky. The thumbs and index fingers both feature touchscreen pads, so you can use your phone without removing your gloves.

The Anthem 2 gloves are available in sizes S-3XL, with a launch RRP of £39.99 in a choice of red, black, yellow or blue.

iXS Techno-ST+ Microfibre Waterproof boots

These boots from iXS might look like one of those patterns in which you might see a face if you stare long enough, but fear not, they’re just boots.

That funky pattern is down to a mixed polyester and microfibre construction, while underneath is a Solto-Tex waterproof lining and textile lining for enhanced comfort.

Protection is taken care of with micro-injected thermoplastic inserts, plastic inlays on the ankles and shins, and a reinforced heel cap that’s impact resistant. The soles are rubberised for better grip, and there are reflective inserts all over the upper.

There are two forms of adjustment to suit different calf sizes, with a Velcro internal adjuster and a section of padding at the calf that can be moved up and down to suit the rider.

The iXS Techno-ST boots are available at launch with an RRP of £178.99, and come in sizes 36-48.
